Psychosurgery victim wins $7.5 million jury verdict
According to a report in the June 24-July 1, 2002 issue of The National Law Journal, a combined cingulotomy and capsulotomy at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio (U.S.A.) in attempt to cure a 62 year old woman's obsessive-compulsive disorder (washing her hands and taking showers frequently) "left her without control of her limbs or bodily functions." The patient thereafter won a $7.5 million jury verdict against Cleveland Clinic. The Clinic is appealing the verdict.
